Why MinistryTogether?
After more than 40 years in ministry, I’ve learned that some of the most important lessons don’t come from books, conferences, or classrooms.
You learn them by leading through change, making mistakes, navigating conflict, building teams, surviving difficult seasons, and staying in the game.
MinistryTogether is a place to pass some of those lessons along.
I started it as a way to share what I’ve learned with other pastors. Now I’m inviting other experienced ministry leaders I know and trust to join me—people who’ve taken different roads, faced different challenges, and learned lessons of their own.
The idea is simple: help pastors benefit from experience they haven’t had time to accumulate yet.
My Story
I’m Geoff Surratt. I’ve spent 44 years in full-time ministry as a lead pastor, executive pastor, family pastor, consultant, coach, and ministry leader.
Along the way I’ve helped lead growing churches, navigated multisite ministry, worked with church planters and pastors, and served alongside some exceptional leaders. I’ve also made plenty of mistakes, lived through difficult seasons, and learned that what looks obvious in hindsight rarely feels obvious when you’re in the middle of it.
I’ve written a few books, spoken at conferences, and had opportunities to work with churches and leaders across the U.S. and Europe. I’m grateful for all of it.
But at this stage of my life, I’m increasingly interested in investing what I’ve learned in the leaders coming behind me.
That’s what MinistryTogether is about.

I’ve Invited Some Friends to Join Me
One of the advantages of being in ministry this long is getting to know some remarkable leaders.
I’ve invited a small group of pastors and ministry leaders I know and trust to be part of MinistryTogether. Each brings decades of experience, but we haven’t all had the same journey. We’ve led different kinds of churches, served in different roles, faced different challenges, and learned different lessons.
We won’t always see everything exactly the same way. That’s part of the value.
You’ll hear from these leaders through articles and other resources. Some are also available for one-on-one coaching.
My goal is to make hard-earned ministry experience available to pastors who could use it.
What We’re Here For
MinistryTogether is for pastors who want to lead well, stay healthy, and finish strong.
We’re interested in the real stuff of ministry—leadership decisions, staff and teams, church health, growth and change, relationships, character, failure, resilience, and the questions that don’t have easy answers.
We want to offer practical wisdom, honest stories, different perspectives, and experienced outside voices that can help you think more clearly about what’s in front of you.
- Sometimes that will happen through an article.
- Sometimes through another leader’s story.
- Sometimes through a coaching conversation.
- But the purpose is the same:
Pass along what we’ve learned so the leaders coming behind us don’t have to figure everything out on their own.
